Procrastinators Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from chronic procrastination.

Inspiration and pick me ups.

Thought this might be a good place to share inspirational sayings, poems, etc.

Funny One.

If you really want to do something, you'll find a way; if you don't, you'll find an excuse - Anonymous

that's a great one!

Perfect for a Procrastinators site - hilarious! :D

And true, I think.

Gosh

Do you really think that applies here?

actually, yes

Did you see the article I wrote about the main reasons for procrastination?

The Five Main Types of Procrastination

The fifth reason I list is "unrecognized inner truth". I've never seen any other article or book on procrastination mention this, but I've discovered that it's my #1 reason, and I'm a serious procrastinator. My procrastination has caused serious damage to my career and personal relationships.

The things that I most stubbornly resist doing are things that deep inside I don't want to do, in the real sense of the word - I don't want to do these things, even when considering all the consequences and ramifications of that choice (not just an inability to get past short-term discomfort). The procrastination problem I had with my business is a good example. I had good reasons for wanting to close that business and do something else, but I wasn't listening to this - I was listening to my brother and mother instead.

I have a tendency to ignore what I want, and much of my procrastination grows out of that - demand resistance (passive aggressive resistance towards doing what I truly don't want to do). I sometimes procrastinate for the more commonly mentioned reasons - don't know where to start, fear of failure, etc. - but I can usually overcome that. It's when I'm ignoring the voice of my soul that I simply cannot make myself do something.

So what do you WANT to do tonight, brain?

Try and take over the world.

((pro))

Sometimes I'm just messing with you. :P

Remember, I am the "should" police. ;)

uhhhhhh huh?

My brain is too muddy right now to even follow what you mean! :?

It's just that

I attempted to make a joke, and your response seemed on the more serious side. I've probably got some wires crossed myself. *shrugs*
See you from home!

I get it now

I'm not very with it this afternoon. I'm feeling so depressed that my tendency is to miss jokes. I get it now, though. :P

Because sometimes you just have to laugh...

Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea,
And love is a thing that can never go wrong,
And I am Marie of Roumania.

Comes the Dawn - Poem

Comes the Dawn

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.

You learn that love doesn't mean security, that kisses aren't contracts, and presents aren't promises, and begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open with the grace of a woman/man, not the grief of a child.

You learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight and after a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much, so your plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure ... that you really are strong... and that you really do have worth ... and you learn and you learn. With every new day you learn.

Thanks for that G-I-D

Hi Pro. Thanks for fixing that typo.

It's a nice poem. I'll bet somebody somewhere knows who wrote it. Did you every try googling it?

whoops.

posted wrong. nothing to see here, move along.

lovely poem though

I once handwrote it and framed it for my sister.

Beautiful!

And could be just right for JestRight, too. Thanks for posting it! (Would you mind correcting the typo in the line , "tomorrow's ground ~is~ too uncertain", pretty please? Then its beauty will be unclouded!

OK, yes, it helps...

"love doesn't mean security, that kisses aren't contracts, and presents aren't promises, and begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open with the grace of a woman/man, not the grief of a child."
