Graphics You Can Use in Forum Posts
The instructions below assume you are NOT using the TinyMCE rich-text editor. If you are using it, then you just put the path to the image (as described below) in the image dialog box. You invoke the image dialog box by clicking on the tree icon. Here's an example:
If you are using the rich-text editor but wish you weren't, click "my account" (top box on the left), click the Edit tab, and disable TinyMCE.
To use an image from this collection, hover over the picture you want to get the path and filename, then use this path and filename in an HTML image tag.
If you're using a browser that doesn't display the tooltip with the tag (or if you want to copy the filename instead of retype it), you can do this (thanks to Edge for writing this out):
- Place the mouse over the picture you want and right click it.
- On the menu list you get, click "Properties"- it's at the very bottom.
- You will get a popup box. Look at the third category row that says "Address URL". What you should see right next to it is the complete url path to the picture you want, like this: http://www.procrastinators-anonymous.org/files/images/give_up.gif
- Copy the following part only: /files/images/give_up.gif (Don't forget to start from the forwardslash "/" before "files").
- Paste the part you copied above in place of the PASTE HERE bit: <img src="PASTE HERE"> (Keep the quotation marks in place). The end result should look like this:
<img src="/files/images/give_up.gif"> - Place your image code (i.e. <img src="/files/images/give_up.gif">) in the new thread as it is, hit post, et voila!
Example 1:
this code:
<img src="/files/images/goodmorning_colors.gif">
produces this image:
Example 2:
This code produces checkboxes. The "align" parameter lines up the checkbox with the text:
<img src="/files/images/box_checked.gif" align="absbottom"> Rising time: 10am. <img src="/files/images/box.gif" align="absbottom"> Shower and dress.
What it looks like:
Rising time: 10am.
Shower and dress.
Do not use the images hosted on this site anywhere but on this site. This is not a public hosting server. If people start doing this, I will not be able to afford the additional bandwidth charges and I'll take down the images. I'm paying for this site from my own pocket ("Contributions" button is planned!).

added 5 images and 1 smiley
I thought I'd added 6 images, but the ruby (from today's day starter) was already there. The images are at the bottom of the list. The new smiley is the horse.

added 7 more graphic images
I added seven more graphic images. You'll find them just above the smilies (at the end of the images - scroll up a little).

Using images
I'd like to use images in my posts. In particular, I'd like to use the checkboxes for my check-ins. I suspect there's an explanation of how to do this somewhere on the site (but I've looked a lot & not found it), or else it's too complex for that. Anyway the only explanation I found, under Graphics for Forum Posts, says to hover over the image. When I hover over the image, nothing happens (i.e., I don't see a path & filename). Am I doing something wrong? Also, if that problem gets fixed & I see a path & filename, do I just type something like the example (under Graphics for Forum Posts) within my post or do I need to do something different/ more complicated? Any assistance will be appreciated, and if I really need to learn how to do this elsewhere, please don't hesitate to tell me so.
Thanks
How to use images (from Edge)
This is a re-post of instructions from Edge on how to post images (copied here so it won't get lost in the check-ins board):
1. Place the mouse over the picture you want and right click it.
2. On the menu list you get, click "Properties"- it's at the very bottom.
3. You will get a popup box. Look at the third category row that says "Address URL". What you should see right next to it is the complete url path to the picture you want, like this: http://www.procrastinators-anonymous.org/files/images/give_up.gif
4. Copy the following part only: /files/images/give_up.gif
(Don't forget to start from the forwardslash "/" before "files").
5. Paste the part you copied above in place of the PASTE HERE bit: <img src="PASTE HERE"> (Keep the quotation marks in place). The end result should look like this: <img src="/files/images/give_up.gif">
6. Place your image code (i.e. <img src="/files/images/give_up.gif">) in the new thread as it is, hit post, et voila!

Check Boxes
CODE:
<img src="http://www.procrastinators-anonymous.org/files/images/box_checked.gif" align="absbottom"> Type your completed task here
<img src="http://www.procrastinators-anonymous.org/files/images/box.gif" align="absbottom"> Type your incomplete task here
Happy Posting

"I don't feel like it" is a poor sacrifice for your dreams.
thanks for explaining
I put a note in the "comments" about the align=absbottom, but I guess it wasn't in an obvious place (or not complete enough). Thanks for posting the details. I'm going to add the less-than and greater-than symbols to your post so it's the exact code.
By the way, you don't need the entire URL - you can do it like the example at the top of the graphics page. That makes the lines a little easier to read. For example:
<img src="/files/images/box_checked.gif" align="absbottom"> Type your completed task here
<img src="/files/images/box.gif" align="absbottom"> Type your incomplete task here
Another technical question
Is there a way to copy the boxes & my to do list so that I can just change the unchecked to checked, or do I have to re-enter the <img> tag each time?
Thanks!
I figured it out
I copied the tags & all from my drafted post into Word and then copied that to the next post. Hooray!
new graphics - checked/unchecked boxes
I added a few new graphics - new "Ta Da" and "To Do" headers, a new divider line, and boxed (checked and unchecked).
To align the boxes with text in a to-do list, use "align="absbottom" in the <img> tag.
some new graphics
I added some new pictures for use in the forum.
obsessed with graphics
I'm getting obsessed with graphics. Now I know what Normy means about how hunting for these can be addictive. The sun is out now - I need to go outside, and also get some lunch. I'm hungry.
New graphics
Some nice ones there pro - thanks for sharing them. You obviously felt the need to vent your anger at some point - there are two flaming 'smileys'. And there's also a definite cat theme I see ;)
interpreting my selections
>You obviously felt the need to vent your anger at some point - there are two flaming 'smileys'.
Actually, no, I wasn't feeling any anger at all. I was relaxed, happy, and in my jammies. You must be projecting. ;)
I'm not even sure what you mean by flaming smileys. I downloaded a bunch of smileys with all different expressions. I downloaded anything that looked like it might be expressive of something someone here might feel, plus a couple of pointless pictures (that happened to be of cats) because I thought they were aesthetically pleasing - I liked the colors.
Flaming smileys
Flaming smileys are smileys with flames coming out of them, and I'm not projecting because I'm very chilled at the moment. I do remember you saying some time back that you'd posted up a flaming smiley (can't remember what you called it) because you needed it at the time to express how you felt. That's all I meant.
pages for graphics?
I have so many graphics now, that the thought occurs to me that I should modify my display program to show them on separate pages. But no... I will not do that (now, anyway). I am going outside!!
added yet more graphics
I'd better slow down on this, or the page will take forever to load!
added many more graphics (and spent too long doing it)
I added over three dozen new images to our collection. I was getting bored with what we had.
added a few more graphic images
Again, thank you Normy.
I added more graphics to the forum collection.
Did everyone see this? The link is in the Site Content box on the left, under the "Forum" item.
Graphics
Yup, there're some emoticons there I don't have in my collection. Thanks pro.
You already have a graphics collection, I know.
I actually snagged most of the graphics from your posts. I put together the collection and hosted it here for those who can't figure out where to find this stuff (like me LOL).
You're welcome :o)
Quite happy to share - I got them by the grace of sharing in the first place
Reaching for the cookies, seeing if you're smiling
i love this stuff. So if I copy and steal the emoticons, and use them elsewhere, it's okay?
In other wrods, Pro, you only object to people stealing the OTHER images?
don't link to images on this site
What I don't want you to do is post something on another site that links to images hosted on this site. That would greatly increase the bandwidth used here since not only would I be paying for the traffic on Procrastinators Anonymous, but also the traffic on the other site(s).
You can download the images and use them however you like. But if you want to use them in posts on other forums, either upload the images to the forum (if the forum software allows), or host them on your own site, or use a public hosting site like Normy does. Just don't link to them here.
Smilicons baring it all in public view
Interesting - so as long as I am downloading to my PC, it's always OK to do.
Public hosting site - good idea. Sounds very up-to-date. Normy, if you read this, please let me know what to do. I'm curious if this is a good way to handle real estate fliers and photos, acting headshots, as well.
Email me, if you like, at adomian@sbcglobal.net
public hosting
I think she uses photobucket.com.
Photobucket
I do - I posted a thread on how to use it in the Off Topic section. If you download to your own computer, but not to a host website (yours or a public one) you can still use them in Emails etc. I'm not sure of the value of using them in posters, flyers etc, unless you just want to use the images, in which case, again, you would only need to download them to your own computer and use with your own software as normal.
